Driving Licence Checks Part4

The DVLA has an Electronic Driver Entitlement Checking Service (EDECS). You can search on line for companies providing these checks. Also, the Association for Driving Licence Verification  (ADLV) has been launched with its members able to provide you with licence checks based upon the DVSA data base. What other ways are available for you to check driving licences?

You can also check your employee's driving licence entitlement by registering to use the Driver Licence Validation Service (DLVS) if you intend to make regular licence checks. To obtain a print out of the driver record, form D796 has to be completed and sent to the DVLA.  However,  your employee must give permission for you to use this service. Form D796 remains valid for three years. You can also check entitlement using form D888/1,  however this form is only valid for three months. Checks can also be made on the phone or by fax.
