DVSA Updates to the Driving and Theory Tests

You may have previously seen on the news or social media that DVSA are trialling a new driving test format. This format does not affect driving tests at Rotherham at this time. The new test uses a sat nav for the whole of the test, reduces the number of stops on the left you make during the test. The number of emergency stops carried out during a driving test reduces to 1 emergency stop in 7 driving tests.

Also you may have seen on the news or social media today the DVSA has updated the car theory test to include questions on CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and how to use an automatic external defibrillator (AED). The new questions will be introduced in tests from next year to give pupils with theory tests booked time to learn the new content. This information is already in the Highway Code and Driving the essential skills.

There are lots of first aid courses available which cover the basics we should all know. For exmaple,  St John Ambulance offer course https://www.sja.org.uk/   In South Yorkshire, YAS community engagement for schools, local groups and workplaces: https://www.yascharity.org.uk/community-education/community-engagement-trainer/

There are lots of training providers. Take a course and potentially save a life.

Any of my existing learners producing to me an up to date first aid certificate from a legitimate face to face course provider gets a free learner driving lesson. This could be worth £60 to you which may offset the cost of the first aid course?
