Automatic driving instructor training

My instructor training is delivered using an automatic car. If you hold an automatic licence, this can make ADI training more accessible. If you hold a manual licence, you can still take your ADI Part 2 and Part 3 tests in an automatic car and, if you choose, go on to teach in a manual car.

Training in an automatic car can be a practical, confidence-building route into the profession.

Why train as a driving instructor using an automatic car?

Using an automatic car can be game changing if you are finding training challenging using a manual car. Perhaps it feels that everything is happening all at once and you are not in control.

You have more time and space to focus on delivering a high quality driving lesson without having to constantly worry about your learner stalling or being in the wrong gear.

Training in an automatic car can help to boost your confidence as you have more time and space to develop the key skills, knowledge and experience you need to become an effective driving instructor.

Future proof your business. There are more and more electric and hybrid cars being used on our roads which are automatics. Also, the number of learner tests using an automatic car is increasing.

If you are a potential driving instructor (PDI) on a trainee licence delivering manual driving lessons and you are struggling, feeling overwhelmed or just surviving each lesson have you considered changing to automatic? It could be a game changer for you and your career.

If you are struggling with your ADI part 2 or 3 training or teaching learners using a manual car then do not keep doing the same thing every day because you think you have to. If you do, you will keep getting the same results, frustrations and challenges. Nothing will change. You have a choice. Make the change and go auto. It could be the opportunity you have been looking for which supports your development, growth and leads to your qualifying success.
